Refugee Health Eating Project: Preparing a meal
The Refugee Healthy Eating Project at BRASS has been running for the past seven years, set up by a community association called The Green House Project. At the moment it receives support from Bolton Community Homes but this support may run out next year. It is also supported by a number of dedicated volunteers and staff from NHS Bolton and Bolton Community College.
Every Wednesday afternoon the group prepares a vegetarian meal. This is a great opportunity for people attending the drop-in to learn ‘hands-on’ basic cooking skills and to learn how to use the fruits and vegetables sold in the markets and shops in Britain. Just come and introduce yourself at 1 o’clock and you can get involved.
The DEPROSU Project; From March onwards there will also be a food growing project operating on the Haslam Park Allotment Site on Sunday afternoons.
Do not forget to visit the cheap healthy eating café on Great Moor Street; The Kitchen - which was set up by volunteers from the Refugee Healthy Eating Project last year.
